More than 1,000 people turned out today to welcome Severn Run High School to the #AACPSFamily. The sparkling new facility opens for students on Tuesday.
At the outset of today's ribbon-cutting, Principal Rachel Kennelly paid tribute to the Wade and Schillinger families, who operated Papa John's Farm for more than a century on the site that is now the school. As just one nod to that legacy, the driveway at the school is named Wade-Schillinger Way.
And while he may have been in dress shoes and a suit, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell showed he hasn't lost his touch on the basketball court. Let the record reflect that the first basket at the new school was knocked down by the Superintendent. In fact, he made the first four shots he took.
