At the high school level, we want to provide a device that best meets the needs of our learners as we challenge them to be future ready for an ever-changing world. Consequently, we are shifting from Chromebooks to the Windows based HP Elitebook 6 device for our high school students in 10th and 11th grades.

• Include traditional desktop applications like the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe photoshop; which are commonly used in post-secondary and professional settings.

• Provide robust processing with greater flexibility and compatibility with a wide range of software applications.

• Include the widely used Windows operating system; most programs are developed for Windows which offers AACPS flexibility as we add or revise technical courses with the most current software.

• Streamline access to technical certification courses.

In January of 2026 all grade 10 and 11 students will return their Chromebooks to their home school. All grade 10 and 11 students will be issued an HP Elitebook 6. 

Student Device Expectations
Students are expected to bring their device to school fully charged and ready for use throughout the school day. In addition, all applicable district policies, regulations, and student handbook guidelines remain in effect.
