Redistricting hearing, briefings art

The Board of Education today announced logistics for a public briefing and two public hearings related to Phase 2 of the school district’s comprehensive redistricting process. There are currently six plans under consideration, four of which the Board put forward at its September 17, 2025, meeting and two of which it added at its October 15, 2025, meeting. The following have been scheduled:

Public Briefing on Thursday, October 23, 2025

School district staff will present details of the two most recent plans put forward to public hearing – Superintendent’s Recommendation 3 (SR-3) and Board Recommendation 3 (BR-3) – at a public briefing at 5 p.m. in the Board Room of the Parham Building. No public testimony or comment will be accepted at the meeting.

Public Hearing on Monday, October 27, 2025

·      The Board will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. in the Board Room at the Parham Building. Links to register to speak at the hearing or provide written comment to the Board will be made available at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at www.aacps.org/boardcomment.

·      Those wishing to testify may do so in person or virtually and must indicate their choice when registering. Speakers will be limited to two minutes and must address one or more of the six plans under consideration. Testimony on topics other than the six plans under consideration will not be permitted.

·      Speaker registration and the written public comment period for this hearing will close at noon on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Public Hearing on Monday, November 3, 2025

·      The Board will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. in the Board Room at the Parham Building. Links to register to speak at the hearing or provide written comment to the Board will be made available at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at www.aacps.org/boardcomment.

·       Those wishing to testify may do so in person or virtually and must indicate their choice when registering. Speakers will be limited to two minutes and must address one or more of the six plans under consideration. Testimony on topics other than the six plans under consideration will not be permitted.

·       Speaker registration and the written public comment period for this hearing will close at noon on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

Speakers may not sign up for anyone other than themselves and may only testify at one public hearing on redistricting.

The Parham Building is located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis. The briefing and hearing are open to the public and subject to normal space limitations in the Board Room. Those who have signed up to speak will be given seating preference at the hearings.

The briefing and hearing will be broadcast live on AACPS-TV and on AACPS’ YouTube channel.

The Board is scheduled to adopt a redistricting plan in November that will go into effect in August 2026. It may choose to explore other plans and is not limited to the six plans currently under consideration.
