The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County is scheduled to hold its first reading on a new policy about responsible use of artificial intelligence at its next meeting, set for Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
After the Board conducts its discussion, the draft policy will be open for public comment for 30 days. The Board is scheduled to conduct the second of three readings on the policy at its December 2, 2026, meeting, and adopt a policy at its December 16, 2026, meeting. Administrative regulations will be developed following adoption of the policy.
Also at Wednesday’s meeting, the Board is scheduled to:
review its quarterly Construction Status Report, which provides details on major projects with a total approximate value of $538 million.
consider approval of design documents for a new transportation facility.
Wednesday’s meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Board Room at the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis. The Board will also meet in a public session at 4:30 p.m. for the sole purpose of voting to immediately go into closed session, during which time it will discuss confidential matters as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act including, but not limited to, legal advice, personnel, and negotiations. Closed session is not open to the public.
PUBLIC COMMENT AT BOARD MEETINGS
The Board will hear public comments from up to 10 total speakers (virtual and in-person combined) per agenda item during a single public comment section in the early portion of the meeting. Additionally, up to 10 speakers can comment on non-agenda items.
