The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County hold its first meeting of the new fiscal year at noon on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. The meeting will be the first for new Student Member of the Board Sara Hamdaoui, who took the oath of office and began her one-year term on July 1, 2026. Hamdaoui is the 53rd student to serve on the Board and the only one in the nation on a local board with full voting rights.
At the meeting, the Board is scheduled to consider and vote on final adoption of policies that relate to the use of personal electronic communication devices by students and student sexual harassment and misconduct. The Board will also receive an update on major school construction projects across the county.
The meeting will be held in the Board Room in the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis. It is open to the public and subject to normal space limitations in the Board Room.
The Board will also meet in a public session at 10 a.m. for the sole purpose of voting to immediately go into closed session, during which time it will discuss confidential matters as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act including, but not limited to, legal advice, personnel, and negotiations. Closed session is not open to the public.

PUBLIC COMMENT AT BOARD MEETINGS
The Board will hear public comments from up to 10 total speakers (virtual and in-person combined) per agenda item during a single public comment section in the early portion of the meeting. Additionally, up to 10 speakers can comment on non-agenda items.
