Board of Education President Gloria Dent and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell released the following statements regarding adoption of the Fiscal Year 2027 budget by the Anne Arundel County Council. More information about the budget passed by the Council can be found by clicking here.
MS. DENT
“I am deeply appreciative for the work the Council has done to improve upon the budget presented to it by County Executive Pittman, in particular the identification of funding to provide an additional compensation increase for our Temporary Support Assistants (TSAs) to bring them to $18 per hour. The Council’s work has left us in an even better position heading into the coming year.”
DR. BEDELL
“In a year in which funding is especially tight, this Council has done a great job to find funding to allow us to continue to create 21st-century instructional and athletic environments for our students. The additional $6.1 million in capital budget funding will result, in part, in a field house at Arundel High School and feasibility studies for a handful of other major school construction projects that will go a long way in our efforts to help every student Belong, Grow and Succeed.”
