Board of Education Members

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County is scheduled to vote on adoption of the 2026-2027 school year calendar at its next meeting, scheduled for noon on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

The Board was presented with a calendar recommended by the Anne Arundel County Public Schools Calendar Committee – made up of students, parents, representatives of employee bargaining units and staff from a variety of school system departments and offices – at its November 19, 2025, meeting. The calendar recommend by the committee calls for the first day of classes for students to be Wednesday, August 19, 2026, and the last day to be Friday, June 11, 2027. The end of the school year could be shortened if none of the three built-in inclement weather days are used.

More details about the calendar can be found on the AACPS News Release page.

Also at Wednesday’s meeting, the Board is scheduled to vote on approval of a charter agreement with New Village Academy Public Charter School, which is set to open next fall, and elect officers for the coming year.

Wednesday’s meeting will be held in the Board Room of the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Road in Annapolis. It is open to the public and subject to normal space limitations in the Board Room.

The Board will also meet in a public session at 10 a.m. for the sole purpose of voting to immediately go into closed session, during which time it will discuss confidential matters as permitted by the Maryland Open Meetings Act including, but not limited to, legal advice, personnel, and negotiations. Closed session is not open to the public.

A complete agenda for the meeting can be found on the Board meeting page. More information on agenda items will be posted on the AACPS website in the Board Docs section under the Board of Education tab.

PUBLIC COMMENT AT BOARD MEETINGS

The Board will hear public comments from up to 10 total speakers (virtual and in-person combined) per agenda item during a single public comment section in the early portion of the meeting. Additionally, up to 10 speakers can comment on non-agenda items towards the end of the meeting.
