The theme for this conference is Stress and the Brain; Developing Resilient Kids.
The guest speaker is Erin Walsh. Erin is a parent, speaker, educator, who co-authored the 10th Anniversary Edition of the national bestseller Why Do They Act That Way? A Survival Guide to the Adolescent Brain for You and Your Teen.
We know stress impacts health and shapes the brain’s developing architecture. New experiences, transitions, real and perceived danger, academic pressure, and unknowns can all create stress. Yet learning how to handle appropriate stress is a healthy and normal part of development. Kids who haven’t had practice handling stress can become anxious and avoid taking risks. Erin will explain the impact of stress on the brain and share practical strategies families can use to develop resilience in children.
