South River High School senior Raegan Ogle, a three-sport athlete and key part of the school’s state champion girls basketball team, is one of 13 student-athletes across the country being honored for her character, selflessness, and commitment to make those around her better.
Ogle is a recipient Green Award given by Lead ’Em Up, a national leadership program that focuses on team building and character development, All of South River’s teams have attended sessions sponsored by the organization this year.
This sixth year in which the organization has bestowed Green Awards.
“The 2025 Green 13 aren’t just leaders on the field or in the classroom,” the organization said in announcing the winners. “They bring energy when it’s lacking. They give more than they take. They serve their teammates and make people feel seen. They are a living, breathing example of what it means to be 100 percent Green.”
Ogle, who will graduate next week with summa cum laude honors, suffered a torn ACL in her sophomore year but remained a key presence at soccer and basketball practices and found other ways to support her teammates. Her hard work to claw her way back paid off in her senior year with a successful soccer season followed by a Seahawks state title on the basketball court. As if that wasn’t enough, Ogle decided to pick up lacrosse – a sport she had never played in high school – this past spring. She not only earned a spot but was a standout on and off the field.
“Raegan is an exemplary student-athlete and leader,” South River High School Athletic Director Dave Klingel said. “Her on-field ability, strength as a teammate, and work in the classroom will leave a lasting impression at South River High School.”
Ogle will attend Frostburg State University in the fall and plans to play basketball for the Bobcats.
