Acting on newly released unofficial enrollment counts for the current school year provided to it last night, the Board of Education has moved two additional redistricting proposals to public hearing. With last night’s action, the Board has now moved six proposals forward to public hearing.

Graduating seniors at 14 county high schools will once again receive their diplomas at the Live! Event Center at Arundel Mills this spring, with ceremonies at eight other schools scheduled at other venues, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell announced today.

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will receive new additional information regarding Phase 2 of the comprehensive redistricting process and consider revisions to the current school year calendar at its next regular business meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

At the meeting, the Board will also receive an update on the minimum school funding requirements contained in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future and the work Anne Arundel County Public Schools is doing to meet those requirements.

The Board of Education today announced a change in its schedule of public hearings regarding Phase 2 of its comprehensive redistricting process. The changes will allow the Board to receive new additional information from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell that may be helpful in the Board’s decision-making process.

Dr. Bedell told the Board he will present preliminary 2025-2026 student enrollment information at the Board’s next meeting, set for October 15, 2025. As a result, the Board has postponed the first of its two public hearings, scheduled for October 13, 2025.

Tomorrow we kick off our first Birth to 5 event: Tiger Cub Fridays! This event will be held weekly on Fridays, 10:15-11:15 am, located at the Brooklyn Park Library, right next to Park Elementary School. These events will feature various vendors and are intended to engage infants, toddlers, and children who are not yet in school (ages newborn to 4).

Please join us if you have an infant, toddler, or young child to increase readiness for school and foster early childhood development! Parents/guardians are required. We'll meet in the lower level meeting space at the library every Friday starting tomorrow! Tomorrow's vendor is Laura Brino, who will engage the children in creativity through play! Please spread the word; this is open to the community.

Mañana iniciamos nuestro primer evento para bebés de 0 a 5 años: ¡Viernes de Tigritos! Este evento se llevará a cabo semanalmente los viernes de 10:15 a 11:15 AM en la Biblioteca de Brooklyn Park, junto a la Escuela Park. Estos eventos contarán con la participación de diversos vendedores y están diseñados para atraer la atención de bebés, niños pequeños y niños que aún no asisten a la escuela (desde recién nacidos hasta los 4 años).

Fourth Grade at Park is stepping into the Middle Ages ! 🏰

We are now decorated and ready for our next unit: Knights, Castles, and Chivalry through CKLA!

In this unit, students will build their reading and writing skills as they dive into fascinating informational texts about life in the Middle Ages. Together, we’ll explore:
🛡️ The feudal system and life on manors
🏰 Castles, knights, and the code of chivalry
⛪ The power of the Christian Church
📜 The Magna Carta and its lasting influence
🌆 The growth of towns and trade
⚔️ The Black Plague and the end of the era

Students will also strengthen their grammar, spelling, and vocabulary skills, and review the writing process.

Park Elementary School will be hosting after-school clubs this fall on Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:30-4:00 PM for grades 1-5.
