The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will receive new additional information regarding Phase 2 of the comprehensive redistricting process and consider revisions to the current school year calendar at its next regular business meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
At the meeting, the Board will also receive an update on the minimum school funding requirements contained in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future and the work Anne Arundel County Public Schools is doing to meet those requirements.

The Board of Education today announced a change in its schedule of public hearings regarding Phase 2 of its comprehensive redistricting process. The changes will allow the Board to receive new additional information from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell that may be helpful in the Board’s decision-making process.
Dr. Bedell told the Board he will present preliminary 2025-2026 student enrollment information at the Board’s next meeting, set for October 15, 2025. As a result, the Board has postponed the first of its two public hearings, scheduled for October 13, 2025.

Our students find a sense of belonging as they bring in food and encourage donations to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank, learning to give and help others in our community. This week in second grade was so much fun! In knowledge we studied the effects of rivers flooding and even created our own silt to learn about its impact on rivers! In math, we studied number patterns while skip counting using our hundreds chart, in skills we reviewed our tricky words with a new game based on our reader, and in science we were engineers and leaders when we worked together to build the tallest towers!
We love differentiated instruction during math! Students are working on using their number charts to count on.
Shake and spill helped us learn addition facts with sums of 10.
Miss Z's Second Grade Class has been using foam ten frames and colorful linking cubes in their math partners as well as in small group to show 2-digit numbers as tens and ones.
Can a statue's shadow move? First graders explore movement of light to determine how the sun's movement creates shadows.
