Woodside ES families are welcome to attend a FREE all-ages event on Thursday, February 26 6 pm-8 pm at the Chesapeake Arts Center , 194 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park, MD 21225. The Power Within: Honoring Black History Month group exhibition is a vibrant tribute to the spirit and legacy of Black and African American artists. Inspired by this year's Black History Month theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” the exhibition weaves a century of remembrance through bold, visionary artworks. Each piece reflects the strength, creativity, and collective memory shaping each artist, inviting audiences to see art as both a vessel of history and a force for transformation. Each family attending will enter into a drawing for a special prize and receive light refreshments. Click here to RSVP.

WE love OUR community! To show our love and appreciation for our community, including the caregivers of our students, community partners, and stakeholders, we are holding a breakfast event on February 10th from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. We will socialize, share updates about our Community Schools Program, and have participants complete Valentine's cards explaining why they love the program.

4:00 p.m., 1/31/26: Out of an abundance of caution and in order to allow additional time for student and staff travel, all Anne Arundel County Public Schools will open two hours late on Monday, Feb. 2, and Tuesday, Feb. 3. There will be no morning half-day ECSE sessions, no morning sessions at the Centers of Applied Technology, and no transportation to JROTC programs.
Families of students who normally walk to school should closely examine walking routes prior to Monday and strongly consider transporting their students to and from school. Some adverse road and sidewalk conditions will also still exist on Monday and Tuesday, so families and staff are urged to exercise caution and patience, including as it relates to decisions about student drivers.

4:35 p.m., 1/30/26: Anne Arundel County Public Schools-sponsored activities for Saturday, January 31, will continue as scheduled. For the status of activities sponsored by agencies other than Anne Arundel County Public Schools on January 31 or February 1, please check with those agencies.
Those traveling to school sites for activities on Saturday should allow extra time for travel and exercise caution as they walk to and from buildings. Crews will be continuing to work on school sites throughout the day Saturday.
No decisions have been made about the status of school district operations for Monday, February 2.
Thank you.

The closing of schools on Tuesday, January 27, and Wednesday, January 28, utilizes the second and third of three inclement weather days built into the 2025-26 school year calendar. Under state law, AACPS may choose to move to virtual learning on future inclement weather days. No decisions have been made for school district operations beyond Wednesday, January 28. If additional days are needed and virtual learning is not utilized, those days would be added to the end of the calendar.

Unit V and Unit VI Central and Satellite Office employees will work remotely on Tuesday, January 27, and Wednesday, January 28, with supervisors providing work requirements.
Unit III Facilities, Operations, and Maintenance personnel must follow the terms of their negotiated agreement and report to work locations as required. Additional guidance regarding reporting requirements will be communicated to impacted employees.
