AACPS 10/22/25: Traffic accidents in the western portion of the county this morning are causing some significant delays for buses. All buses will make all stops but may be delayed in getting to those stops. Buses in the Arundel, Broadneck, Crofton, and Meade clusters may be particularly impacted.

The Board of Education today announced logistics for a public briefing and two public hearings related to Phase 2 of the school district’s comprehensive redistricting process. There are currently six plans under consideration, four of which the Board put forward at its September 17, 2025, meeting and two of which it added at its October 15, 2025, meeting.

Acting on newly released unofficial enrollment counts for the current school year provided to it last night, the Board of Education has moved two additional redistricting proposals to public hearing. With last night’s action, the Board has now moved six proposals forward to public hearing.

Dear Families,

Next week, Solley Elementary will be celebrating Harvest for the Hungry Spirit Week! This is a fun and meaningful way for our students to show school spirit while helping to fight hunger in our community. Each day will have a special theme and a suggested food donation item. All donations will support the Anne Arundel County Food Bank and Solley families in need.

Here's what's happening each day:

Monday, October 20th – “Hats off to stopping hunger!”
🎩 Crazy Hair/Hat Day
🫙- Bring in jars of peanut butter and jelly

Tuesday, October 21st – “Overpowered by generosity!”
🦸 Dress like your favorite superhero

- Bring in dry goods such as mashed potatoes, stuffing, pasta, or mac & cheese

School Picture Day

Graduating seniors at 14 county high schools will once again receive their diplomas at the Live! Event Center at Arundel Mills this spring, with ceremonies at eight other schools scheduled at other venues, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell announced today.

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will receive new additional information regarding Phase 2 of the comprehensive redistricting process and consider revisions to the current school year calendar at its next regular business meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

At the meeting, the Board will also receive an update on the minimum school funding requirements contained in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future and the work Anne Arundel County Public Schools is doing to meet those requirements.

The Board of Education today announced a change in its schedule of public hearings regarding Phase 2 of its comprehensive redistricting process. The changes will allow the Board to receive new additional information from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell that may be helpful in the Board’s decision-making process.

Dr. Bedell told the Board he will present preliminary 2025-2026 student enrollment information at the Board’s next meeting, set for October 15, 2025. As a result, the Board has postponed the first of its two public hearings, scheduled for October 13, 2025.
