Greetings Crofton and Arundel feeders!
As a graduate of AACPS and a resident of the Crofton community, I have the distinct pleasure of announcing a wonderful addition coming to our area. In August of 2026, Anne Arundel County Public Schools will open its newest Early Childhood Center, The Carver Early Education Center (formerly the Carver Professional Development Center for AACPS) will offer 120 seats for four-year-old prekindergarten students.
I have been with Anne Arundel County Public Schools since 2001. During that time, I have served as a special education teacher, an Early Childhood Intervention teacher specialist, Program Manager for the AACPS Infants and Toddlers Program, and most recently, an Assistant Principal at Marley Glen School. I have an extensive background in early childhood education, specialized instruction, behavior, and leadership. As Principal of Carver EEC, I now have the opportunity to utilize all my experiences and skills to serve the Crofton community.
In partnership with MSDE, the AACPS Office of Early Childhood, the Office of Specialized Instruction, Birth to Five Services, and the Crofton community, we are designing a space where our students will fall in love with learning, our families will find support and guidance, and our staff will flourish in their profession. The Carver Early Education Center will be a place where all students and faculty will Belong, Grow, & Succeed.
Stay tuned as we continue to update you on our progress, initiatives, and ways you can support this exciting addition to our community.
Yours in Service,
Cheryl Hamlin

This quarter, our Marley Glen students have been busy exploring coding, design, and hands‑on creativity as they built and customized race tracks for their class Indi car! This project has been an exciting blend of academic reinforcement, student choice, and real‑world skill building.
Students practiced:
Basic traffic safety concepts — understanding left vs. right, directionality, and how patterns guide movement in our communities.
Academic goals across subjects — from identifying shapes and recognizing patterns in society to building fine‑motor strength while coloring their course designs.
Interdisciplinary learning — blending math, art, technology, and communication skills in a meaningful, engaging way.
We’re proud of the growth, creativity, and confidence our students displayed as they used the Edu Sphero program. Quarter 3 has been full of innovation, joy, and purposeful learning at Marley Glen School! 💙✨

Our Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) team had an incredible showing at the state championship competition! Twelve of our students qualified and competed at the state level, and we are proud to share that seven students earned first-place state champion titles in their respective categories, while the remaining five students placed second in their events.
These accomplishments reflect the dedication, preparation, and teamwork our students demonstrated throughout the season. Their hard work truly paid off, and we could not be prouder of their achievements.
We are excited to announce that our team will now advance to the FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas at the end of June.
A special thank you goes out to Ms. Ali for her incredible dedication, guidance, and preparation that helped make this experience possible for our students. We wish our team the best of luck as they prepare to represent our school on the national stage!
