AACPS 10/22/25: Traffic accidents in the western portion of the county this morning are causing some significant delays for buses. All buses will make all stops but may be delayed in getting to those stops. Buses in the Arundel, Broadneck, Crofton, and Meade clusters may be particularly impacted.

The Board of Education today announced logistics for a public briefing and two public hearings related to Phase 2 of the school district’s comprehensive redistricting process. There are currently six plans under consideration, four of which the Board put forward at its September 17, 2025, meeting and two of which it added at its October 15, 2025, meeting.

Phase 2 redistricting briefing, hearings

Utilizing flexibility provided in a new law, the Board of Education has altered the current school year calendar by removing six early dismissal days and creating in their place three full school days for students followed by three non-student days in which teachers can complete grading and other staff can engage in professional learning. #BelongGrowSucceed #AACPSFamily

Acting on newly released unofficial enrollment counts for the current school year provided to it last night, the Board of Education has moved two additional redistricting proposals to public hearing. With last night’s action, the Board has now moved six proposals forward to public hearing.

Annapolis Middle School proudly celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a vibrant and lively event that brought together families, parents, staff, the superintendent, and board members. The evening was filled with lively music, delicious food, and energetic dancing, all presented by our talented students. It was a wonderful opportunity to honor Hispanic culture and traditions while strengthening our school community. The celebration highlighted the creativity and spirit of our students, as well as the strong support from those who make our school a special place. #DragonStrong

Graduating seniors at 14 county high schools will once again receive their diplomas at the Live! Event Center at Arundel Mills this spring, with ceremonies at eight other schools scheduled at other venues, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell announced today.

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will receive new additional information regarding Phase 2 of the comprehensive redistricting process and consider revisions to the current school year calendar at its next regular business meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

At the meeting, the Board will also receive an update on the minimum school funding requirements contained in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future and the work Anne Arundel County Public Schools is doing to meet those requirements.

After exploring the rich symbolism in the song "Latinoamérica", the Annapolis Middle School students in Ms. Guzmán's SNS class were inspired to create their own original poems, each highlighting symbols from their home countries.
