Bigsby has taught Anne Arundel County Public Schools students since 2018 and has spent the entirety of that time at Magothy River Middle School. During that time, he has built a reputation as a dynamic educator with a passion for student connection and innovation.

Sara Hamdaoui, a junior at Crofton High School, has been elected by members of the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils (CRASC) to be the 2026-2027 student member of the Anne Arundel County Board of Education (SMOB). The results were announced today on CRASC’s Instagram page, @CRASC_Online.

Today is our Birth–5 playtime event! This was designed just for our littlest learners and is great chance for children to explore, play, and connect in a welcoming environment. Registration was required, so please check your email for confirmation details. We look forward to meeting all of our little friends soon!


The last day of school for students in prekindergarten through 11th grade will be Tuesday, June 16, 2026. The last day of work for 191-day Unit I and Unit IV employees (classroom teachers, teaching assistants, technology support technicians, etc.) will be Thursday, June 18, 2026.

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County is set to vote on revisions to its grading policy that would allow the school district to provide class rank to certain high school students at its next meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
At the meeting, the Board will also:
• receive the recommendation of the Calendar Committee on the calendar for the 2027-28 school year. A Board vote on that calendar is scheduled for the Board’s May 6, 2026, meeting. The Board approved the 2026-27 school year calendar earlier this year.
• get a summary of education-related legislation considered during the recently concluded Maryland General Assembly session and the impact of that legislation on the school district.
• recognize 2026 National Merit Scholarship finalists.
