In October, we had nearly 2,100 students with family members whose first language is not English and who had not signed up for our Parent Portal, which we use to deliver important information throughout the year. Our amazing bilingual facilitators got to work on that issue and today, that number is 8. EIGHT. Thank you to this awesome team for helping international famlies help our students Belong, Grow, and Succeed!

Five county high school seniors have been honored for their achievements by earning recognition as Dell Scholars by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. The honors for Aliya Downs, Jaden Gaddi and Brittany Gonzalez of North County High School; Cheyenne Ponder of Glen Burnie High School; and Jax Payan-Hansen of Southern High School each come with $20,000 scholarships in addition to a laptop computer and printer. All five students are enrolled in AACPS’ Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program, designed to provide support to students who are in the “academic middle” and prepare them to be successful in college through career and college exploration. #TBT Spotlight on CTE Ms. Ingle, a former student at the Center of Applied Technology South(CAT-South), is now the HVAC Instructor at CAT-South. It is rewarding to have the opportunity to give back to the school that gave me so much. I never thought I would be able to be a teacher due to learning disabilities, but that only made me stronger as a teacher and as a student. I always say my brains are in my hands, but due to my learning disabilities, I can see things and explain things in a better way to help people understand. Now, as a teacher, I help other students with the same disability learn that having an IEP or 504 is just your toolbox, and your tools are there to help you succeed with the job at hand. As a student, I competed in Skills USA and placed third in the States Competition. Now, I am also an NTHS member and a big supporter of Skills USA and what it stands for, which is why I help support this competition every year.

Established in 1989, National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) celebrates how school breakfasts can prepare students for daily success. By observing this special week every year, we’re encouraging all K-12 schools to recognize the importance of a healthy start to the day with breakfast to fuel children’s academic success. #NSBW25 #ClueInToSchoolBreakfast
