Congratulations to Southern High School Class of 2025 graduate Sam Moreland, who was elected to serve on the 98th Maryland FFA Officers team for the 2025-2026 school year at the recent FFA Maryland Convention. Congratulations to Old Mill High School graduate Josh Hader, who now pitches for the Houston Astros, for being named the June American League Reliever of the Month! Hader allowed just six hits and struck out 22 batters in 13 2/3 relief innings. He also recorded nne saves, the most in Major League Baseball in June. #BelongGrowSucceed #AACPSFamily #OurStory

As students vacation and attempt to stay out of the heat, district leaders continue their work to prepare to make the 2025-26 school year even better than the one that just concluded. About 300 administrators and other leaders gathered for the first day of the Division of Instruction and School Performance’s two-day conference, titled “Empowering Leadership: Working Together for Remarkable Results.” The keynote address came from Dr. Luvelle Brown, the longtime and nationally recognized superintendent of New York’s Ithaca City School District. Attendees also heard remarks from Chief Academic Officer Christina Catalano and were entertained by members of the #AACPSAwesome Big Bad Brass Band of Severn Run High School before going to sessions! #BelongGrowSucceed #AACPSFamily

School may be out for the summer, but our school district leaders are hard at work developing innovative curriculum for the coming year. Members of our Triple E (Enhancing Elementary Excellence) team are collaborating to design hands-on, STEM-rich learning experiences that spark curiosity and critical thinking. This summer’s work is focused on giving students more opportunities to solve real-world problems through inquiry and innovation. The lessons we are creating are aligned to Next Generation Science Standards and grounded in project-based learning to help ensure that that students not only learn content but also build the skills they need to lead, create, and thrive. #BelongGrowSucceed #AACPSFamily.
