Katelyn Bullock a 2024 graduate of Southern High School and past president of the school’s FFA chapter, will receive her National FFA American Degree in October at the National FFA Convention in Indiana. As the highest degree achievable in the National FFA Organization, the American FFA Degree shows an FFA member’s dedication to their chapter and state FFA association. It demonstrates the effort FFA members apply toward their supervised agricultural experience and the outstanding leadership abilities and community involvement they exhibited through their FFA career. As students vacation and attempt to stay out of the heat, district leaders continue their work to prepare to make the 2025-26 school year even better than the one that just concluded. About 300 administrators and other leaders gathered for the first day of the Division of Instruction and School Performance’s two-day conference, titled “Empowering Leadership: Working Together for Remarkable Results.” The keynote address came from Dr. Luvelle Brown, the longtime and nationally recognized superintendent of New York’s Ithaca City School District. Attendees also heard remarks from Chief Academic Officer Christina Catalano and were entertained by members of the #AACPSAwesome Big Bad Brass Band of Severn Run High School before going to sessions! #BelongGrowSucceed #AACPSFamily

Members of our Triple E (Enhancing Elementary Excellence) team are collaborating to design hands-on, STEM-rich learning experiences that spark curiosity and critical thinking. This summer’s work is focused on giving students more opportunities to solve real-world problems through inquiry and innovation.
