The number of Anne Arundel County Public Schools to earn five stars on the Maryland Report Card rose 36 percent in the 2024-25 school year compared to the previous year, with an AACPS record 15 schools now holding the state’s highest rating, according to data released by the Maryland State Department of Education today.

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County has changed the time of the closed session it will hold on Monday, November 3, 2025, and will now meet prior to its scheduled public hearing on the Phase 2 redistricting process.

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will have further discussions about the six Phase 2 redistricting proposals currently under consideration at its next regular business meeting, scheduled for noon on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
At the meeting, the Board will also:
• consider approval of a new middle school course – Integrated Computational Thinking – and three new high school courses – Forensic Science 2, Advanced Placement Cybersecurity, and Advanced Placement Business Education With Personal Finance.
• conduct the first of three readings on revisions to the Policy IIC, Graduation Requirements and the accompanying regulation. The revisions would reduce the number of credits needed for graduation from 26 to 22.5, still higher than the state minimum, by requiring fewer elective credits.

🎃 Trunk or Treat Night Success! 🎃
What an amazing evening! Our Trunk or Treat Night, in collaboration with Overlook Elementary School, brought together 575 community members for a night full of fun, laughter, and plenty of sweet treats! With 15 creatively hosted trunks, 2 delicious food trucks, and a thriving bookstore adding to the excitement, families enjoyed an unforgettable celebration.
Parents also left with valuable emergency sitter tips to help keep their children safe and cared for, adding a thoughtful touch to the night. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive — everyone had a fantastic time, and the community spirit truly shone through.
A huge thank-you to all our families, volunteers, and generous partners who donated mountains of candy to help us keep up with the incredible demand for treats! 🍬
We couldn’t have done it without you — and we can’t wait to do it again soon! 👻✨
