8:00 p.m., 1/8/25: To answer a question we have received about Thursday morning’s reassessment: The reassessment would allow school system staff to continue to address any issues at schools. It does not mean students would report to school at their standard start times or that students would engage in virtual instruction. We have every expectation that we will open schools on a two-hour delayed schedule Thursday. We hope this clarifies the issue.

Our #AACPSAwesome Operations teams are out at schools this morning clearing lots and walks so that we can get students and staff back to school as quickly as possible. Please do your part by staying away from these areas so crews can do their work. Residents should also clear the sidewalks in front of their homes so our students have safe paths to walk to schools when they reopen. Let's all pitch in together! Thanks! #BelongGrowSucceed #AACPSFamily

But Bob DOES KNOW you can help support CAT South students going to state, regional, and national competitions through the purchase of “Keep Calm” apparel. All of the proceeds help CAT South students. You can place orders at https://www.catsouth.org/schoolstore. As for Monday, we’ll all just have to stay tuned. Bob will let you know when he knows. #BelongGrowSucceed #AACPSFamily #KeepCalmBobWillCall #PleaseBob

Greetings CSPES Families, As you may be aware, there is a strong possibility of a winter storm heading our way at the start of next week. We are writing to provide you with some information related to virtual instruction on inclement weather days. AACPS has allotted three inclement weather days in the 24-25 calendar. Virtual instruction will not occur until all three days have been exhausted. AACPS will communicate with all families if there is a decision made to delay school, close school, or facilitate virtual instruction days. That decision does not come from the school. If AACPS utilizes all three allotted inclement weather days, they may determine to hold virtual instruction day. If that occurs, information about the day's requirements will be shared via your child's Rooms page. Chromebooks and other materials are being sent home today so that your family is prepared. As shared at the beginning of the year, we highly recommend purchasing a Chromebook charger for your student as they will not be sent home. Students do not need to complete any assignments unless there is a virtual instruction day determined by the superintendent of AACPS. Have a safe weekend!

Hello, CSPES Families. As I hope you have learned from me, I believe in transparency. Unfortunately, our most recent round of data was as good as we had hoped. While there are many factors, I firmly believe that one reason for decreased performance is the lack of skills practiced on iReady and IXL. I spent a lot of time this week strategizing in response to the data and analyzing comparative data, and our use of iReady and IXL has dropped almost 50% since last year. While I am confident that we have a plan to move forward successfully, we cannot do it without you. Please join me in making a New Year's resolution to focus more on academic skills. As a reminder, you can practice these skills anytime at home. If your child is not bringing their Chromebook home and you want them to, please let their teacher know. If you need log-in information, please email Ms. Derin at jderin@mycsp.org; she will gladly provide it. Finally, a great time to learn these skills is Saturday Academy. If you would like for your child to join us for an iReady/IXL session, please sign up at the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080C44A9AF2FA5FD0-54174776-saturday If you would like more information about how to support your student at home, please reach out to their teacher or one of our student success coaches.
