Today starts registration for our Pre-K program. Due to some technical issues with AACPS Chesapeake Science Point Elementary School (CSPES) is NOT listed on the application. Please fill out the application form and use your boundary school as your school of choice. Once the registration is COMPLETE please call the school office and we can add your student to a list. This list will be sent to the Early Childhood Department of AACPS and your student will then be placed on CSPES list of POTENTIAL students for Pre-k. The only information the main office needs is your students first and last name.

I want to take a moment to speak honestly with you.
As we approach Principal Appreciation Day this Friday, I’ll share something from the heart—this role is one I care deeply about, but recently, it has been especially challenging.
Our team has experienced an increase in frustration from families, and in some cases, interactions that have crossed the line of respect—including raised voices and even cursing directed at staff members. That is incredibly difficult for any team to experience, especially one that shows up every day committed to caring for your children.
I share this not to place blame, but to ask for understanding and partnership.
Every decision we make—whether it’s enforcing our 1:45 early dismissal cutoff, maintaining structured arrival and dismissal procedures, or upholding expectations for traffic flow—is rooted in one priority: the safety and well-being of all students.
Recently, we have seen:
Unsafe driving behaviors in the car line, including illegal U-turns
Attempts to bypass established traffic procedures
Frustration when school expectations are upheld
Requests for the school to monitor areas beyond our control, such as public roadways
Disrespectful communication toward staff, including raised voices and inappropriate language
I understand that schedules are tight and situations can feel frustrating. However, disrespect toward staff and unsafe decisions—especially those that impact student safety—are not acceptable.
Our procedures are not optional. They are in place to protect everyone in our community.
As your principal, I carry the responsibility of every child in this building. That responsibility extends beyond instruction—it includes ensuring that arrival and dismissal are as safe and orderly as possible.
So today, I am asking for your partnership:
Please follow all established car line procedures
Please avoid illegal or unsafe driving maneuvers
Please respect school policies, including dismissal timelines
Please communicate with staff in a respectful and appropriate manner
Please trust that decisions are made with the best interest of all students in mind
As we recognize Principal Appreciation Day this Friday, I will say this sincerely:
The greatest support you can give is not a gesture or a message—
it is your cooperation, your respect, and your commitment to helping us keep every child safe.
I remain deeply committed to this school and to every family we serve. I ask that we move forward together with patience, respect, and a shared focus on what matters most—our students.
With appreciation,
Tabatha Camacho
Principal, CSPES
