As a follow up to our previous message, BPES experienced a brief power and service disruption that occurred at our school earlier today. Around 10:30 a.m., our building experienced a temporary loss of power, internet, and phone service due to high winds in the area. We are pleased to share that full power and connectivity were restored by 11:17 a.m., and normal operations resumed shortly thereafter. Throughout the outage, our dedicated staff worked diligently to ensure a safe and smooth continuation of the school day. Instructional activities remained in progress, and all students received their meals as scheduled. Staff members conducted regular check-ins to provide classroom support as needed, maintaining a calm and supportive environment for all students. We appreciate your understanding and partnership as we prioritize student safety and learning under all circumstances.

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will have further discussions about the six Phase 2 redistricting proposals currently under consideration at its next regular business meeting, scheduled for noon on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

At the meeting, the Board will also:
• consider approval of a new middle school course – Integrated Computational Thinking – and three new high school courses – Forensic Science 2, Advanced Placement Cybersecurity, and Advanced Placement Business Education With Personal Finance.
• conduct the first of three readings on revisions to the Policy IIC, Graduation Requirements and the accompanying regulation. The revisions would reduce the number of credits needed for graduation from 26 to 22.5, still higher than the state minimum, by requiring fewer elective credits.

More details can be found on the AACPS news release page.

Good afternoon families! Remember that tomorrow is the BPES Dress-up Parade! Here is the flyer to remind you of the fun details. This is a day to not be late, so be on time- doors open at 7:40! Students should come in their outfit that they would like to wear for the parade. It can be anything from a book character, superhero, favorite outfit, pretty dress, future career, video game character and so much more! However, there can be nothing scary, gory, and no masks or weapons for the school. Students can change if they choose to do so after the parade but are responsible for their belongings. This is a fun and exciting event where we gather as an entire school community. This is an indoor and school-only event and will not be open to the public, however pictures will be available at some point later in the day! Thank you for all that you do for our students and school community.
