🌺Celebrating Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month Mark Chang, Maryland State Delegate #AAPIHM #AAPIHeritageMonth
about 1 month ago, Anne Arundel County Public Schools
Mark S. Chang, Maryland State Delegate - Born in Annapolis and raised in Anne Arundel County, Maryland State Delegate Mark S. Chang turned early struggles into a lifelong commitment to service. A second-generation Korean American, Chang struggled with feeling accepted in school, and his family faced income and food insecurity. With the support of caring teachers and his involvement in student leadership, he realized he had the ability to create change through public service. A proud Glen Burnie High School graduate, Chang studied psychology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and earned a master’s in business from Loyola University Chicago. His journey from an AACPS student to the State House was fueled by a deep desire to serve local communities and schools, which he accomplishes today through his work on the Appropriations Committee, funding school projects statewide. Inspired by Anne Arundel’s growing diversity, Chang champions inclusion, mentorship, and opportunities for Asian American students. He’s especially proud of cultural celebrations like Korean American Day and the increasing presence of Asian American educators in our local schools. For Chang, “there's still a lot more work we can do to be more inclusive and diverse and accepting of the different cultures in our communities.”
