The calendar shows that it’s almost August and thoughts are beginning to turn to the new school year. A complete list of Back to School events being hosted by schools along with other important information for the 2025-26 school year can be found at www.aacps.org/backtoschool.

Katelyn Bullock a 2024 graduate of Southern High School and past president of the school’s FFA chapter, will receive her National FFA American Degree in October at the National FFA Convention in Indiana. As the highest degree achievable in the National FFA Organization, the American FFA Degree shows an FFA member’s dedication to their chapter and state FFA association. It demonstrates the effort FFA members apply toward their supervised agricultural experience and the outstanding leadership abilities and community involvement they exhibited through their FFA career. Congratulations to Southern High School Class of 2025 graduate Sam Moreland, who was elected to serve on the 98th Maryland FFA Officers team for the 2025-2026 school year at the recent FFA Maryland Convention. Camp and activity organizers will notify participants about cancellations. Movement of camps and activities indoors will be done where feasible given other activities at those sites. AACPS meal sites will operate as normal. For information about camps and activities scheduled by other agencies, please check with those agencies. As a reminder, all AACPS schools and offices are closed on Friday, June 27.
