Our ESOL teacher, Mrs. Darling and our Bilingual Facilitator, Ms. Nambiar, recently held an informative session for our fifth grade families of English Learners. They learned about the ELD program and WIDA Access, but most importantly, built connections between families that will carry over to middle school next year! We love to see our community connect and #BelongGrowSucceed together!

Today we launched a new mentoring initiative in partnership with Severn Run High School called SRQ Connect! This program brings together student-athletes from Severn Run and students from Quarterfield to build meaningful connections through physical activity, mentorship, and social-emotional learning!

During physical education classes and recess—times when students often face challenges with behavior and peer interactions—SRQ Connect mentors will support our younger learners by modeling positive behaviors, encouraging teamwork, and helping students navigate competitive situations with empathy and resilience.

The high school mentors will serve as role models, demonstrating how to participate actively, resolve conflicts respectfully, and have fun while staying emotionally regulated. This initiative is designed to strengthen our students’ social-emotional skills and create a more inclusive and supportive environment during high-energy parts of the day.   Our goal is to do this at least once per month.

Please join us in welcoming the SRQ Connect mentors and supporting this exciting collaboration between our schools!  Special Shout Out to Coach Allen Haley for his willingness to connect for community sake.
