Thursday Thoughts with Dr. Bedell -- May 21, 2026

It is my pleasure to inform you that Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation & Parks has received permission from Anne Arundel County Public Schools to provide an afterschool child care program at Meade Heights Elementary School for the coming school year. Over the coming months, we will be working to obtain the necessary budget approval, staff and license in order to open for the start of next school year.

The program details are as follows:

  • Hours:

    • From the end of the school day-6:00pm, every day that school is in session for students

  • Monthly Fee:

    • $365.00/month per child ($350.00/month per sibling of a registered child) x 10 monthly payments (Childcare vouchers are accepted)

  • Space Reservation Process

    • Maryland State regulations prohibit us from officially registering your child until the license is received from MSDE-OCC. However, families CAN reserve a space via our waitlist process while we await the license.

    • Instructions to reserve a space:

      • The waitlist for space reservations will open online on May 22, 2026 at 8:00amBefore May 22nd, you may create an Account to save time on the computer Friday morning. To do so:

        • Click on Create an Account (or go to: https://aacoprod.aacounty.org/ChildCare/CreateAccount) to create the primary account holder.

        • After you have created the primary account holder, you must then add your child(ren) to the account by selecting the "Manage Account" tab, and then selecting the "Manage Family" tab.

        • The primary account must be completed by an adult over the age of 18.

        • An email address is required to create an account online. Make sure it is an email address you check regularly as this will be our primary means of communicating information.

      • After creating your account, open your account on/after May 22, 2026 at 8:00am and select the following to reserve a waitlist space:

        • Center Name: Meade Heights Elementary

        • Session Name: 2026-2027 School Year PM

      • When the license is received, we will officially offer registration spaces in order of the waitlist for any and all available spaces.

      • While you await word regarding your space, please work to obtain the MSDE Required Forms for Admission. The Health Inventory requires a physician's signature. No child is permitted to attend next school year without this information on file.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through the licensing and staffing process. We will provide more information as soon as it is available. If you have any general questions regarding our programs, please go to our website at: Rec & Parks Child Care, or contact us via sacc@aacounty.org, or at 410-222-7856, ext. 0. We look forward to caring for your family.
