4 p.m., 3/11/26: Cleanup from the flooding that occurred in the building at Monarch Global Academy in Laurel will last through the remainder of the week. As such, the school will continue to operate on a virtual schedule through Friday, March 13.

Due to the length of time needed to clean the school and get it ready for in-person learning in the wake of yesterday’s flooding, Monarch Global Academy in Laurel will operate on a virtual schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 10 and 11.

Good Afternoon MGA Families,

11:20 a.m., 3/8/26: Due to a burst pipe that has caused flooding in classrooms, Monarch Global Academy will be closed for students and staff on Monday, March 9. There will be no instruction for students. Information about the status of school operations for Tuesday, March 10, will be provided tomorrow.

As we look ahead to the end of our fiscal year, I’d love to invite you to be part of an important and exciting step for our PTA—planning for our next leadership team.
All current PTA officer terms will conclude at the end of this fiscal year, and we will be electing new officers at our May general membership meeting. The positions to be filled are:
- President
- Vice President
- Treasurer
- Two Secretary positions
To begin this process, we are seeking volunteers to serve on our PTA Nominating Committee. This is a great way to get involved, meet other engaged parents, and help ensure a strong and thoughtful leadership team for the coming year.
At our March 17, 2026 general membership meeting, PTA members will elect three (3) volunteers from among those interested to serve on the Nominating Committee. The committee’s role is to nominate one eligible candidate for each officer position.
The Nominating Committee will present its slate of nominees to the general membership at least ten (10) days prior to our May 19, 2026 meeting, at which time the PTA will vote on officers. Additional nominations may also be made from the floor at that meeting.
If you are interested in volunteering for the Nominating Committee, please email secretary@mgapta.org no later than March 8, 2026.
If you have ever considered getting more involved—or simply want to support the PTA behind the scenes—this is a wonderful opportunity. Your participation helps keep our PTA strong, inclusive, and representative of our school community.
Thank you for your continued support of our PTA and our school. Together, we make a difference.
Warmly,
Kristin McFarlane
MGA PTA President

Anne Arundel County Public Schools is monitoring the weather forecast for potential inclement weather Sunday into Monday. As a reminder, our school district has used all three of the inclement weather days built into the calendar. Should another inclement weather day be needed on Monday or any other future day, it is our intention to switch to virtual learning instructional schedules. This would avoid adding a day to the end of the school year.
Students are being reminded today to take their assigned devices home with them and keep them charged through the weekend.
Virtual learning schedules, which have been updated since the last storm, can be found at www.aacps.org/studentschedules.

Conditioning Club is cancelled for today. Students will dismiss as usual.
