Anne Arundel County Public Schools students demonstrated continued growth on statewide assessments in the 2024-2025 school year, increasing the proficiency rate in 10 of the 11 grade band assessments in English Language Arts (ELA), math, and science, data released by the Maryland Department of Education today shows.

Hello, everyone! I’m Ms. Burgess and I’m originally from the Caribbean but moved to the southern U.S., living and teaching in South Carolina and Georgia for over six years. While I’m new to AACPS, Maryland has always felt like a second home since I’ve frequently visited family here. This will be my 3rd year teaching in AACPS. I previously taught Kindergarten for my first 2 years at Rippling Woods Elementary. I am super excited to join the MacArthur Middle team because I am passionate about allowing space for students to discover how to express themselves using movement and dance. My boyfriend (Cameron) and I  recently just moved to the Brooklyn Park area and we are super excited! I  also currently teach  at a studio in Edgewater MD, called Class Act Performing Arts Studio.
