The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County is set to vote on revisions to its grading policy that would allow the school district to provide class rank to certain high school students at its next meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
At the meeting, the Board will also:
• receive the recommendation of the Calendar Committee on the calendar for the 2027-28 school year. A Board vote on that calendar is scheduled for the Board’s May 6, 2026, meeting. The Board approved the 2026-27 school year calendar earlier this year.
• get a summary of education-related legislation considered during the recently concluded Maryland General Assembly session and the impact of that legislation on the school district.
• recognize 2026 National Merit Scholarship finalists.

Welcome back! We are entering the final marking period, and we are looking forward to a strong finish to the school year. Your continued support makes a tremendous difference as students work to close out the year successfully.
Beginning next week, students will participate in the MCAP ELA assessment on the following dates:
April 14, 15, 21, and 22.
It is very important that students are present, on time, and prepared on their scheduled testing days. Students should come to school with:
A pencil
Wired headphones (if they own them)
Their school-assigned Chromebook if they have
A small snack to enjoy after testing concludes
We also ask that students get a good night’s sleep the evening before testing to help them do their best.
📣 Special School Spirit Day
Wednesday, April 15 is Purple Up for Military Kids Day! We encourage all students to wear PURPLE to help us celebrate and honor our military-connected students.
Additionally, please note that MacArthur Middle School will have a new phone and fax number beginning April 10:
Phone: 667-492-5050
Fax: 667-492-5051
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support as we work together to ensure a successful end to the school year.
Sincerely,
MacArthur Middle School Team

Annually, the first movie of the festival is designed to offer several hundred of our AACPS students the opportunity to see an award-winning movie and discuss it afterwards with one of the professionals involved in its production. This year the movie is Cookie Queens, a documentary about the girls, their families and the entrepreneurial spirt at the center of the annual selling of Girl Scout cookies. After the movie, one of the New York producers will be available to discuss the movie and its production with the students who attend.
Because Friday, March 27th is a non-school day for students, we are able to invite students to attend with a parent or guardian. The movie is free for both the student and parent. Everyone attending must provide their own transportation. There is plenty of parking available at the Maryland Hall (lot and street parking). We do need them to sign up, so we know who plans to attend. Here is the Movie Sign-Up Link for students to register (with a parent).
Everyone must fill out the google form from the link above to attend; there is no cost.
Date of the Movie: Friday, March 27, 2026
Location: Maryland Hall Auditorium
Address: 801 Chase St, Annapolis, MD 21401
Start Time: Please be in the auditorium no later than 9:25 AM
End Time: 11:45 AM
Cost: Free to student and their parent/guardian
Requirement: Each student needs to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No students will be admitted who do not come with their parent/guardian chaperone.
You must sign up to attend.
