Greetings Gopher Families and Staff!
Our newly established PTSA is off to a great start! We now have officers and an executive team that is working hard to bring new events and opportunities to our school community. Here are three ways to join in the fun:
LOGO CONTEST: Have YOUR art featured as the official PTSA Logo, and win cool prizes!
The PTSA is excited to offer students, clubs, staff, teams, and families an opportunity to create a logo for the Glen Burnie Gopher Nation PTSA and have their art featured on PTSA merch and promo for years to come! The contest runs from 12/6 to 1/10, and 3 winners will be announced in January 2024. See the attached flyers for more details on how to enter and win!
JOIN THE PTSA: Our PTSA Membership is growing daily! See the attached flyer (with the QR Code) for information on how to join (it's super easy!) and lend your support. Don't have a great deal of time to volunteer? That's A-Okay! You don't need to hold an office or have an official responsibility to support. You can donate snacks for events, connect our PTSA with professionals or organizations who can help, volunteer for one event only, spread the word to other parents, help us advocate for resources for our school, and more -- the opportunities are endless! See the attached flyer and let us know how much (or how little) you're able to get involved in our school community.
GET CONNECTED: Have questions? Ideas? Feel welcome to reach out to our PTSA Leadership at anytime by e-mailing GlenBurnieGopherNationPTSA@gmail.com. Our Amazing Officers are as follows:
President: Ms. Ashley Yearby
1st Vice President: Ms. Lina Permut
2nd Vice President: Ms. Amarylis Velasco
Secretary: Ms. Noi Brewer
Corresponding Secretary: Ms. Jackie Ortiz
Treasurer: Ms. Kea Profitt
Membership Chair: Ms. Aubrey Legler
Teacher/Staff Liaison: Mr. Nick Konstantopoulos
We look forward to working with you to support our school,
GBHS and the GB Gopher Nation PTSA

Glen Burnie High School's Growing Gopher Preschool held a ribbon cutting for their beautiful new playground yesterday. Appreciation goes out to Ms. Roorda (the Early Childhood teacher who spearheaded the initiative), the GBHS Business Advisory Board, the students in the Early Childhood program and the GBHS administration for helping see that this project, 15 years in the making, finally came to fruition. The preschool now has a beautiful space for the current preschoolers and for the years to come. The playground has a new play structure, a rubberized surface, a wheeled vehicle path, a sandbox, a basketball area and picnic tables for outdoor learning and lunchtime. #AACPSFamily #BelongGrowSucceed

Exciting Partnerships & Internships at Arundel High School thanks to the Arundel Grooming Project! Arundel HS proudly offers new internship opportunities for its students through the Arundel Grooming Project. Thanks to the generous support of Rob's Barbershop Community Foundation for installing the onsite barber and beauty salon at the school. The primary goal of this project is to increase access to grooming services for students who face barriers to regular hair care. Arundel HS student, Jaiden Martin, is one of the licensed barbers providing expert haircuts to fellow students! This initiative is made possible through the tireless efforts of Zsavelle Smack, the school's Internship Coach, and several administrators. Their dedication has been instrumental in making this project a reality. A heartfelt thank you goes to our community donors: EHI & Walmart Foundations, Wahl Professional USA, and the Wegmans Crofton Store.
