The closing of schools on Tuesday, January 27, and Wednesday, January 28, utilizes the second and third of three inclement weather days built into the 2025-26 school year calendar. Under state law, AACPS may choose to move to virtual learning on future inclement weather days. No decisions have been made for school district operations beyond Wednesday, January 28. If additional days are needed and virtual learning is not utilized, those days would be added to the end of the calendar.

3:45 p.m., 1/26/26: Due to ongoing adverse weather and travel conditions, all Anne Arundel County Public Schools buildings will be closed on Tuesday, January 27, and Wednesday, January 28. A Code Red is in effect for employees.
Unit V and Unit VI Central and Satellite Office employees will work remotely on Tuesday, January 27, and Wednesday, January 28, with supervisors providing work requirements.
Unit III Facilities, Operations, and Maintenance personnel must follow the terms of their negotiated agreement and report to work locations as required. Additional guidance regarding reporting requirements will be communicated to impacted employees.
With the exception of Unit III employees who are required to report to work locations, no AACPS employees should attempt to travel to AACPS facilities.

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County will meet at 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, for the specific purpose of voting to go into closed session, pursuant to Sections 3-305(b)(9) of the General Provisions Article of the Open Meetings Act, to consider matters related to collective bargaining negotiations.
The meeting will be conducted virtually.

The challenge was to read any 6 books of their choice in 7 weeks and then they would be added to the Tracey's 6-7 Readers Wall of Fame. Even some of our staff join in on the celebration!
