A Message from Yearbook

Yearbooks are now on sale! www.jostensyearbooks.comPlease note that the South River High School yearbook is a summer delivery. Jostens will ship pre-ordered books directly to homes over the summer (to the address on file with the purchase record) after they are printed. A summer delivery of the yearbook allows for the yearbook staff to include a full year’s worth of all-inclusive coverage for our student body, including spring sports and senior events such as prom, awards, and graduation.

Underclass Photos

September 15 and 16. Students will have photos taken during English classes. After the portraits are taken, students will have a QR Camera Card to take home, which details when and how to access their gallery.

Message from PBIS

We are excited to share that this year our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Team is introducing several new activities to recognize and celebrate the amazing efforts of our students and staff. One of these new initiatives is our RRE Tickets, which highlight students who demonstrate Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged behaviors across all areas of school life.

Students can earn RRE tickets for showing positive behaviors and then choose how to use them. They may spend their tickets at the Seahawk Store (open once a month) or save them to participate in special quarterly events. This gives students the opportunity to enjoy immediate rewards or practice responsibility by saving for larger celebrations.

To help make this initiative a success, we are reaching out to our community for support. Donations can be made through our Amazon Wishlist, local businesses, or other store locations. Your generosity directly benefits our students and encourages them to continue soaring above expectations.

We are truly grateful for the ongoing support of our families and community partners. Together, we can make this a successful and positive school year for all!

From the Global Communications & Public Affairs (GCPA) Signature Program

AACC College Pathway Opportunities

GCPA has partnered with Anne Arundel Community College to offer a certification pathway in Business Management & Business Communications. Participating students begin their college journey during junior year, completing 2 AACC courses on location at South River High School. They will complete 4 courses during senior year, and upon completion of the 18-credit program, students will earn a certification from AACC in Business Management & Business Communications. Our first cohort begins in a few weeks! Students in 10th grade will have the opportunity to learn more about the program during the year, and those eligible can enter a lottery for one of the 22 seats available. Students enrolled in the GCPA Program have priority access. Please contact Josh White, GCPA Program Coordinator, with any questions (jtwhite@aacps.org).

Call for ICST Members

The GCPA Signature Program is looking to add members to our community stakeholders’ team. The Integrated Community Stakeholders Team, or ICST, meets monthly to coordinate events like mock interviews and guest speakers, provide input and feedback on GCPA curriculum, and offers opportunities for students to develop communications and other professional skills. Meetings are generally virtual, with a few in-person get-togethers planned for this year. Professionals working in communications, public affairs or interests, or any related fields are welcome! Please email Josh White, GCPA Program Coordinator, for more information (jtwhite@aacps.org).
