Student drop-off/pick-up and parking at South River HS

Please adhere to the following guidelines when dropping-off/picking-up and/or parking at South River HS.

  1. If you provide transportation to/from school for your child(ren), use the lower parking lot and not the bus loop. All vehicles are required to pull forward towards the gymnasium so that all cars can fit into the lot in a single line.

  2. The bus loop may only be used by Seniors who are granted a bus loop parking pass. The bus loop is closed to all other vehicles between 7:30am-8:45am and 2:45pm-3:45pm.

  3. No vehicle should park along the side road next to the stadium or along the bus loop curb. This area needs to remain clear for emergency vehicles. This area will be monitored by our School Resource Officer and Administration.

  4. Buses will arrive and enter through the auditorium entrance by the stadium to allow for curb side drop off. All other students who are walking through the bus loop will need to access one of the three crosswalks (auditorium, main entrance, gymnasium).

  5. If you need to park and enter the school building, please park in a visitor spot as all other spots are assigned to staff and students.

Thank you for your assistance. We want to ensure a safe and smooth arrival/dismissal for all students.

Attention all Seahawks - Back to School Kickoff Carnival

Friday September 19, 2025, 10am

South River will host its first ever Kickoff Carnival to bring in the new school year with sunshine, games, treats, and friendly competition. Tickets to participate are $5 and will be available in the cafeteria at NEST from Tuesday, September 9th through Tuesday, September 16th. Students will have access to tons of games such as cornhole, spike ball, flag football, kickball, and traditional relay races. Some school clubs will be hosting activities for students to enjoy while learning how they can get involved. We will have face painting, a selfie station, and music! Activities are included with the ticket purchase, but students should bring money for concessions, and The Always Ice Cream truck will be on site with ice cream cups for sale. This is a closed event and open to students and staff only.

Calling All Parent Volunteers!
Are you interested in getting more involved in your student’s high school experience? We are currently seeking parent volunteers to assist the Class Advisors at South River High School in planning and facilitating key student events throughout the year. Your support will help make these events memorable and successful! Events such as homecoming, prom, and fundraising cannot be done without the support of our community. All volunteers must be approved through AACPS to participate in school events. Information on how to apply to be an approved AACPS volunteer can be found HERE

If you are an approved volunteer (or are willing to become one) and would like to help, please complete the SRHS Parent Volunteer Form. Our nearest upcoming event is the Back-to-School Kickoff Carnival on Friday September 19th.
