School lunch tray with food

The Board of Education of Anne Arundel County has unanimously approved a plan to leave school meal prices at the same level as they have been for the last 10 years in which students have had to pay for meals.

Under the plan approved at the Board’s May 21, 2025, meeting, full-price breakfast at all levels for the 2025-26 school year would remain at $1.50, elementary school lunches would cost $2.75, and secondary school lunches would cost $3.00. The price of milk would remain at 55 cents. Reduced-price breakfast and meal prices at all levels would also remain unchanged.

“What Director of Food & Nutrition Services Jodi Risse and her team have done to maintain the price structure for our school meals for so long is nothing short of amazing,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell said. “There is so much uncertainty in our economy now and the fact that we can provide this stability for our families is a huge step toward helping all students Belong, Grow, and Succeed.”

The school system’s Division of Food and Nutrition Services receives the vast majority of its funding, 73 percent, from federal reimbursements. It receives approximately 22 percent of its funding from sales of meals and approximately 4 percent from the State of Maryland.
