Hello Parents/Guardians of 5th grade students: This is Mrs. Bean, the AVID site coordinator at Chesapeake Bay Middle School. I am calling to make sure you are aware of the AVID program option when completing your child’s course selection for the 2024-2025 school year. At CBMS we offer AVID, a program designed to provide academic instruction and support to students in the “middle to upper middle” to prepare them for eligibility to four-year colleges and universities. We are looking for students who have the potential for honors, AP, and IB work in high school, but need academic and emotional support paired with rigor. In order to take the AVID elective course, students must apply, interview, and be accepted into the AVID program. For more information about this exciting program, please join me on December 3, 2024, from 6:00-7:00pm in the B-side Cafeteria of CBMS. You will also have an opportunity to hear from current/former AVID students and parents of AVID students.  We look forward to seeing all of you!

Exciting Partnerships & Internships at Arundel High School thanks to the Arundel Grooming Project! Arundel HS proudly offers new internship opportunities for its students through the Arundel Grooming Project. Thanks to the generous support of Rob's Barbershop Community Foundation for installing the onsite barber and beauty salon at the school. The primary goal of this project is to increase access to grooming services for students who face barriers to regular hair care. Arundel HS student, Jaiden Martin, is one of the licensed barbers providing expert haircuts to fellow students! This initiative is made possible through the tireless efforts of Zsavelle Smack, the school's Internship Coach, and several administrators. Their dedication has been instrumental in making this project a reality. A heartfelt thank you goes to our community donors: EHI & Walmart Foundations, Wahl Professional USA, and the Wegmans Crofton Store.

Due to a PowerSchool issue, some families are having difficulty opening report cards being sent by schools today. Schools have been instructed to stop sending report cards until PowerSchool can rectify the issue. Families who have already received report cards should wait until this evening to attempt to open them.
