Our Library Media Team helps us #BelongGrowSucceed:
Ms. Grey-Hawkins sets the positive tone for each school day as our adviser for morning announcements. She has trained our 4th and 5th graders to write, read, and record the daily broadcast that includes birthdays, positive referrals, and information we all need, such as what’s for lunch, the weather, and band/strings schedules. Ms. Grey-Hawkins uses her expertise as the e-Coach to teach students how to broadcast in front of and behind the camera!

School Counseling: Helping Students THRIVE
#BelongGrowSucceed

As we begin the month of February and start of Black/African-American History Month, we are afforded the opportunity to celebrate and commemorate the many contributions made by people of African descent to our nation. The U.S. Census Bureau offers us some historical context for this month’s recognition on their website:
"To commemorate and celebrate the contributions to our nation made by people of African descent, American historian Carter G. Woodson established Black History Week. The first celebration occurred on Feb. 12, 1926. For many years, the second week of February was set aside for this celebration to coincide with the birthdays of abolitionist/editor Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. In 1976, as part of the nation’s bicentennial, the week was expanded to a month. Since then, U.S. presidents have proclaimed February as National African American History Month."
