THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023

Windsor Farm Elementary School

  • When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement.  Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts.  Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.

Windsor Farm Elementary's School Story

  • Windsor Farm Elementary, which opened in 1989, serves 540 students in the Broadneck Peninsula community on the outskirts of Annapolis, Maryland. The school was named after Mary Windsor, from whom the land was purchased to build the school. To this day, the school is surrounded by woods and multiple horse farms. Windsor Farm is not only a school with historically strong student achievement as measured on standardized assessments, but also one that offers many extra curricular activities to support the whole child. Many activities provide enriching experiences for our students and often engage the community as well. These include our theatrical productions (Lion King Jr., Aladdin, Annie, and Willie Wonka in prior years), Chorus, Band, Strings performing musical groups, SeaPerch,  Science Fair, Art Club, 24 club, Dance, Girls on the Run, Hero Boys, as well as additional opportunities for students.

Our focus continues to be growing our students academically, as well as supporting them socially and emotionally in an increasingly complex world. The mission of Windsor Farm clearly states that our goal is to grow, develop, and support all students. We intend to fulfill this mission by focusing on the needs of our students and the driving values of our school system’s strategic plan.

We celebrate achievements around the majority of students who read at or above grade level and score well on standardized assessments.  In addition, we are pleased that results from a recent Climate Survey indicates that most students and staff feel connected and safe. We are proud that we have built an engaging environment that allows students to demonstrate their learning and to grow every day, yet we continue to strive for additional successes. The foci of our school improvement plan center on enhancing achievement in the areas of writing in language arts, making thinking visible in math, continuing growth of MTSS (Multi-tiered Systems of Support), and implementing Restorative Practices.
