Eric Lin
Eric Lin was elected to represent the students of Anne Arundel County Public Schools on the Board of Education in April 2023 and, after appointment by Gov. Wes Moore, began his one-year term as the 50th Student Member of the Board (SMOB) on July 1, 2023.
Eric is a senior at Severna Park High School. As a lifelong Anne Arundel County resident, Eric lived in Glen Burnie for most of his life. He attended Solley Elementary School and Old Mill Middle School North as an IB MYP student before moving to Severna Park and attending Severna Park Middle School to finish eighth grade.
Eric is passionate about getting involved in student leadership and advocacy and promoting service learning. He serves as a member of County Executive Steuart Pittman's Youth Advisory Council and is an executive on the AACPS Student Service-Learning Leadership Team. Additionally, he is an active member of the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC), where he has presented workshops on advocacy and testimony.
Eric is also highly involved at his school. He serves as the President of Severna Park High School's Student Government Association (SGA) and is the Treasurer of the Class of 2024. Over the last two years, Eric also led SPHS’ annual Mental Health Matters Week, which aimed to promote wellness and destigmatize talking about mental health issues.
Prior to his election to the Board of Education, Eric served as the Secretary of Communication for the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils (CRASC), where he connected students with opportunities and increased social media engagement.
Eric lives with his mother, father, and younger brother in Severna Park.
