Robert C. Leib
Robert C. Leib was appointed to a two-year term representing Legislative District 30 on the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County in December 2018.
Mr. Leib is a 1972 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and holds a Master of Arts in Business and Management from Webster College, St. Louis, Mo. He and his wife, Karen, have lived in Anne Arundel County since 1981. They raised their daughter Shannon in Cape St. Claire and Riva, and now reside in Harwood.
Mr. Leib retired from the United States Navy in September 1994 after having served his sea duty assignments primarily on board cruisers and destroyers. Ashore, Mr. Leib served as a Congressional Liaison Officer in the Office of the Secretary of the Navy, where he monitored and participated in the crafting of national defense legislation as a liaison with the Armed Services and Appropriations Committees of the U.S. Congress and as Chief Financial Officer for the Academic Dean and Provost at the U.S. Naval Academy.
After retirement from military service, Mr. Leib assumed responsibilities in Anne Arundel County Public Schools as the Director of Business and Government Services, where he was responsible for the leadership of the divisions of Pupil Transportation, Food Nutrition, Human Resources, and Technology and Information. Additionally, Mr. Leib was the governmental liaison officer for the Superintendent and Board of Education. Mr. Leib also served as the Chief of Staff for the Superintendent of Schools from 2004 to 2006.
In 2006, Mr. Leib joined the cabinet of the Anne Arundel County Executive as the Special Assistant for Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and Education (2006-2013). In this capacity, he led the County and region’s preparation and positioning for “BRAC 2005” and served as the County Government’s primary point of contact regarding issues associated with public education. Mr. Leib retired from County government in 2016.
Mr. Leib is a lifetime member of the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and President of the Class of 1972. He also is the current President of the Board of Trustees of Historic London Town and Gardens and past Chairman of the Board of Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. Mr. Leib has also served as a Board Member of the 21st Century Education Foundation, Leadership Anne Arundel, the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, and the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce.
