Q: What mental health supports are available in my school?

Posted by:

A:  Each school has a student services team made up of school counselor(s), school psychologist, pupil personnel worker, and school nurse.  Some schools also have a school social worker, as well. While these school-based mental health providers do not deliver long-term therapeutic services for students, they do provide prevention programs, such as delivering classroom lessons focusing on building social-emotional competence, and work with students individually or in small groups on a short-term basis to remediate school-related challenges.
