Chesapeake Science Point Students Earn College Degrees
Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter School is proud to announce its list of students who earned an Associate of Arts degree from Anne Arundel Community College in May.
This Early College Program allows students to earn their college degree before they graduate high school.
For the first three years of high school, these college classes meet during the regular school day at Chesapeake Science Point during normal school periods. “We have about 250 students in our high school and just under half of them took at least one AACC class this past year,” said Principal Dwight Jefferson.
“We pay the tuition for these students so that they are able to obtain exposure to college classes. We are starting to see some of our alumni graduate college after only two or three years because of the college credits they took in high school. It is a tremendous savings to their families, and it gives the students a head start on the college experience.”
