AACPS All-County Art Exhibit at Westfield Annapolis
The Visual Arts Office, in partnership with Westfield Annapolis, is presenting the artistic achievements from emerging student visual artists from all Anne Arundel County Public Schools. The display highlights the tremendous abilities and talents of AACPS students! Over 3,000 students participate in this annual show which includes drawings, paintings, mixed media, and photography. The exhibit will run from May 2, 2018 to May 14, 2018. High School, Middle School and Elementary student artwork is displayed in the corridor between Macy’s and Crate & Barrel. Students will be honored at an Open House hosted by Westfield Annapolis on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. As part of the May 9th Open House, parents, teachers, family, and friends of the student artists are invited to gather in front of Crate & Barrel promptly at 6:15 p.m. for Words of Welcome by Dr. Maureen McMahon, Deputy Superintendent of Anne Arundel County Public Schools
The display features over 3,000 quality student pieces which showcases to the public the depth and breadth of the AACPS visual arts program in all schools. Exhibiting artwork is an essential part of the art program experience. Displays highlight the students’ achievements in the art studio classroom; it is the professional and performance part of creating artwork. By displaying artwork, students are shown the value that we, the school and public community, place on their hard work and effort in the production of quality artwork. The display provides an opportunity for students and teachers to share their artistic successes with the community, families, and peers. Each visual arts student will receive a certificate by their teacher back at their school to acknowledge their participation in this prestigious exhibit.
