Intern Spotlight: Megan Stonesifer (NCHS Senior Business Development Intern @ Chick-Fil-A)

Megan

Tell me about yourself: My name is, Megan Stonesifer, and I’m a senior at North County High School. I have the determination and drive to lead every day. In my freshman and sophomore years, I also enjoyed playing lacrosse.

Why did you choose to pursue an internship?

I chose to pursue an internship because I really liked what I was doing at work and what my managers were doing, so I wanted to go further and learn more. Through my internship, I’ve learned that I really enjoy all aspects of business and I would like to open my own someday.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to go to Anne Arundel Community College and major in business.

Name and Location of Internship: Chick-Fil-A, Linthicum

Job title/department: Team Leader

Supervisor's name and title: Mr. Billy McGrath, Store Owner and Operator

Daily internship duties: My duties include leading shift, counting money, inventory of uniforms and leading the Drive-Thru team. This means I make sure everything is running smoothly and efficiently. I encourage the team to move quickly, while maintaining excellent customer service.

Coolest project you worked on: I would say the coolest project I’ve worked on is learning how to run a shift, as manager on duty. I still lead mid-shifts almost every day.

One thing you have learned that you will take with you: One thing I have learned is how to handle conflict in the work place.

Best piece of advice you would give to a junior who is looking to pursue an

internship: The best advice I could give is to work hard and value those who are teaching you new skills. Value the time spent at your internship and you will really learn a lot.

Describe one experience at your internship that you will never forget:

One experience at my internship that I will never forget is attending the “Leadership Launch” meeting, Chick-Fil-A was holding at a hotel down the street from my store. I met, Brandon Bray,

and he is one of people who selects Chick-Fil-A operators. I also met many others, who work for Chick-Fil-A, Inc. and I learned a lot of valuable information. It was a great networking opportunity!
