About Our School
-
This year, Annapolis Elementary celebrates 127 years of dedication and service to the children of Annapolis. Situated in the heart of historic Annapolis, Annapolis Elementary School was established in 1896, and is the oldest structure in continuous service as a school in the state of Maryland. Originating as Annapolis Public School, becoming Annapolis Grammar School and often referred to as the Green Street School, the history of the land and structure dates to the 1700’s. Fully renovated and modernized in 2015, our school is uniquely poised to apply lessons learned from history in order to effectively prepare our students for the future. Annapolis Elementary serves a racially, ethnically, linguistically and socio-economically diverse population of students, drawing students from downtown Annapolis to include the Naval Academy, Murray Hill, West Street, Spa Road, and Clay Street communities. Our staff is committed to culturally sustaining pedagogy, which creates classroom environments in which children of all backgrounds are nurtured and supported in the attainment of academic and personal success.
