2019 Teacher of the Year
Degrees and Certifications:
Third Grade Teacher
South Shore Elementary School
"This whole year, I have felt a tremendous amount of gratitude for the career we get to be a part of and the students’ lives we get to be a part of,” Beilstein told the crowd moments after her name was announced. “Every time I walk through my school I am in awe of my colleagues and I know the amazing things we do for our students every day. I am just so grateful to represent the greatness that is in our county.”
A Night of Celebration
What an exciting night! The 33rd Excellence in Education Awards Dinner celebrated teachers and business partners from across the county that go above and beyond to support our students. During the event guests were able to hear about the impact of 16 business honorees and watch videos of students sharing their thoughts and appreciation for all 53 public and private school teachers nominated for the Teacher of the Year Award.
The event culminated in the announcement naming Teresa Beilstein, a third-grade teacher from South Shore Elementary School, as the 2019 Anne Arundel County Public Schools Teacher of the Year. While the AACPS Teacher of the Year honor was the most anticipated award of the evening, Teresa was not the only winner. Keya Belt Robinson, a science teacher from St. Martin's Lutheran School, was named 2019 Independent School Teacher of the Year and two businesses were honored as Business Partner of the Year: New Life Addiction & Mental Health Counseling (Under 50 Employees) and the United States Coast Guard Structural Yard Group (Over 50 Employees).
The event was hosted by the 21st Century Education Foundation in partnership with Headline Sponsors BGE and Comcast.
