    The Explore Teaching: Career Changers’ Pathways to Certification workshop will present information on:

    - How to apply to Anne Arundel County Public Schools for teaching and other support school positions

    - 3 Pathways to MSDE Teacher Certification:

    • Individual Transcript Evaluation
    • Master's Degree Program
    • Resident Teacher Certification Program

    No pre-registration is required for the workshop sessions. Use the Google Meet link listed below and wait to be admitted to the session. Plan to sign-in to the virtual workshop meeting a few minutes early to support a prompt start of the workshop program.

  • AACC - Resident Teacher Certification (RTC)
    Program for General Educators

     

    Overview

    Anne Arundel County Public Schools' (AACPS) Resident Teacher Program is a Maryland Approved Alternative Preparation Program (MAAPP) designed for professionals interested in changing careers or recent college graduates with degrees in fields other than education. AACPS, in collaboration with Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), provides an accelerated teacher education program, and a pathway to becoming a certified classroom teacher. 


    Program activities include: coursework, seminars, fieldwork opportunities, supervised internship, and a residency of 1-2 school year(s) following the internship.  


    Upon program completion, Resident Teachers will be eligible to apply for an MSDE Standard Professional Certificate I (SPC1).

  • NDMU - Resident Teacher Certification (RTC) Program for Special Educators

    Overview

    The Maryland Approved Alternative Preparation Program (MAAPP) Resident Teacher Certificate (RTC) is a two-year program that provides support to career changers who are interested in becoming Special Education Teachers in Elementary or Secondary Education. The program is in partnership with the Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) and the Maryland State Department of Education. Those accepted into this program will attend classes and participate in an internship during the summer months and will be placed in a classroom in August. Candidates who successfully complete this program will emerge with a state-approved certification in the area of Special Education and General Education.  


    Upon program completion, Resident Teachers will be eligible to apply for an MSDE Standard Professional Certificate I (SPC1).
