THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023
Brock Bridge Elementary School
-
When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement. Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts. Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.
Brock Bridge Elementary's School Story
-
Brock Bridge Elementary School (BBES), located in Laurel, MD, was originally constructed in 1970. A two-year renovation project to enclose open-space classrooms was completed in March of 2019. Brock Bridge has approximately 640 students and is a Targeted Title 1 school. The additional funding allows us to provide support and intervention services to a targeted group of approximately 140 students who are most at risk of not meeting learning standards.
BBES is a Restorative Practices and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school. Both of these programs have helped to build a foundation for our vision, to accelerate the academic achievement of every student in a safe and supportive environment and to prepare every student for future success, to be actualized on a daily basis.
Diversity is reflected through the demographics of the school community, student population, and staff. Teachers and staff at BBES are caring and capable, working to build their capacity in addressing a growing and diverse student population. BBES staff establish strong communication with the Spanish-speaking parent community and hosted an English class for over 50 parents. As a result, parents feel welcome because BBES is a place where diversity is celebrated and valued.
