Enrollment Information

  • Students enrolled in the AACPS Virtual Academy engage in virtual-only instruction during each school day.  No in-person learning is offered for Virtual Academy students.

Virtual Academy students receive real-time, synchronous, high-quality instruction 4.5-6.0 hrs per day from certified AACPS educators and participate in AACPS curriculum and assessments as well as all Maryland state assessments.  Our school offers students an exceptional educational experience and has embedded structures and supports within our school day so that our students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

NOTE: All Maryland state assessments will take place in-person for all Virtual Academy students. Families should review the information session video and other resources linked below before submitting an application to the Virtual Academy.  The application window for the 2023-2024 school year has now closed.  A late application can be submitted to the AACPS magnet application portal by clicking here.

An important feature for families to consider: AACPS Virtual Academy students do not attend any part of the academic year in a brick and mortar school, nor will they be able to participate in their community school’s (home school’s) co-curricular clubs or athletics.

Detailed information about the AACPS Virtual Academy can be located in the informational overview brochure linked below.
