Summer School

  • Virtual Summer School (6th-8th)

    Student elearningThe secondary summer school offers students a limited number of secondary courses and provides students the opportunity to make up work in which they were unsuccessful, improve grade averages in sequential subjects, and earn credits to meet high school graduation requirements. Each course is highly concentrated and reviews the course content to meet AACPS course standards. Assignment to Secondary Summer School will be determined by the student's home school. For additional information, please contact your school's counselor.     Virtual Summer School will run July 7, 2021 - August 10, 2021. Classes meet virtually Monday-Thursday from no earlier than 7:30 am and end no later than 1:10 pm.  


    Middle to High - Bridge Gap Program (8th)

    This intensive summer program is designed for rising 9th-grade students who require significant additional support to meet course criteria for promotion to high school.  With a strong emphasis on math and language arts instruction and readiness skills, students will gain the critical knowledge needed for success as they transition to the next level. Without this program, promotion to 9th grade may be in jeopardy. Your student's successful participation and attendance are essential. Please contact your School Counselor for more information regarding program registration and enrollment. Your student’s counselor may also reach out to invite your student to participate.  

    Middle to High - Bridge Gap Program will run July 7, 2021 - August 10, 2021. Classes meet in person Monday-Thursday from no earlier than 7:30 am and end no later than 1:10 pm. Invitation Only. 

Magnet Bridge Camps

  • PVA Bridge Camps (6th-8th)

    Students will experience components of the PVA program designed to prepare them for the 2021 - 2022 school year.  The face-to-face and virtual formats will offer experiences that are fun, rigorous, and relevant to the PVA course of study.  Participation eligibility is limited to AACPS PVA Students.  

    The PVA Summer Bridge Camp will run July 12-July 28, 2021. Classes meet both virtually and in-person Monday-Wednesday from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. Invitation Only


    STEM Bridge Camps (6th-8th)

     STEM Middle School summer programs will take place between June 21-July 9, 2021. Makeup and alternative dates will occur between August 9-13, 2021. All programs will have a synchronous immersive whole group virtual component as well as asynchronous and synchronous in-person and virtual small group options to follow up with the immersive whole group experience.  STEM Grade 6 is Under the Night Stars, STEM Grade 7 is Environmental Impact, and STEM Grade 8 is Changemakers. An email will be sent to qualified students from the Magnet Tracking System with links and sessions descriptions. 

    The STEM Bridge Camp will run June 21-July 9, 2021. Invitation Only.


    IB Summer Bridge Camps (6th-8th)

    IB Summer sessions are designed to introduce new IB magnet students to their IB World School community, and all the exciting components offered within the IB Middle Years and Diploma programs!  Students may choose to engage in IB Design challenges, local and global community action, and language exploration.     The IB Bridge Camp will run June 21-August 28, 2021. Classes meet both virtually and in-person Monday-Thursday at varying times

Academics Camps

  • Math Summer Bridge Camp (6th-7th)

    Designed for students currently enrolled in mathematics 6 or mathematics 7 who have excelled and ready to move into the accelerated course of mathematics in the subsequent year. 

    The Math Summer Bridge Camp will run August 2 - August 19, 2021. Classes meet virtually Monday-Thursday from 8:30 am - 11:30 am.  Invitation Only. 


    English Language Learners

    Newcomer English Language Development Camp (Rising 6th-8th)

    This virtual camp builds academic content knowledge and skills for listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.  Designed for students who have enrolled in US Schools after September 30, 2020, this camp builds student efficacy and prepares for the transition to middle schools. Please click the link at the top of this page to register. 

    The Newcomer ESOL Camp will run July 6-August 3, 2021. Classes meet virtually Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am- 10:30 pm.  


    ESY CAMP (6th-8th)

    Designed for special education students currently in Grades 6-8 who require additional support per their IEP; students will engage in learning throughout the month of July in a relaxed, positive setting. No registration required. Contact your Case Manager for questions regarding your student’s potential need for Virtual ESY programming.  Identified students who are eligible will be notified. 

    The ESY CAMP will run July 6 - July 29, 2021. Classes meet in-person Monday-Thursday from 7:00 am - 10:45 am. Invitation Only.


    Computer ScienceComputer Science CAMP @ MacArthur (Rising 6th)

    Designed for students with an interest in STEM careers who would like to experience opportunities to learn coding through either an online experience with Scratch or with a community college course in coding. 

    The Computer Science Camp will run August 2 - August 12, 2021. Classes meet in-person Monday-Thursday from 8:00 - 3:30pm. Limited to Rising MacArthur Students. 


    Computer Science CAMP (6th-8th)

    Designed for students with an interest in STEM careers who would like to experience opportunities to learn more about computer science through fun and engaging activities.  Parents will need to provide their own transportation for this camp and all sessions will be located at Old Mill High School. Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed.

    The Computer Science Camp is a one-week camp that repeats three times between July 12 - July 29, 2021. Classes meet in-person Monday-Thursday from 8:30 - 11:30am. 


    Northeast Middle Math CAMP (Rising 7th-8th)

    Designed for students who attend Northeast Middle School.  Students will engage in math application and growth mindset to increase enthusiasm around becoming a mathematician.   

    The Northeast Middle Math Camp will run two sessions: July 12 - July 22 and July 26 - Aug 5, 2021. Classes meet in-person Monday-Thursday from 8:30 - 1:30pm. Limited to students who attend Northeast Middle School.  Invitation Only. 


    Acer Service eLearning Repair CAMP (Rising 8th)

    AACPS is hosting an in-person summer tech camp for rising 8th-grade students who are interested in earning an Acer Student Techspert Certification.  This model-specific program enables students to learn to repair Chromebooks.  During the 2-week summer program, students will complete the 7.5 hours Acer online course and transfer those skills during hands-on repair time.  Students who attend this camp will need to arrange for their own transportation.   Please click the link at the top of this page to register. 

    The Acer Service eLearning Repair Camp will run three sessions: July 6 - July 15, July 19 - July 29, and Aug 2  - Aug 12, 2021. Classes meet in-person Monday-Thursday at Arundel High School from 9:00 - 12:00pm. 


    VEX IQ Robot

    VEX IQ Robotics CAMP (Rising 6th-8th)

    Come join us for a hands-on building experience.  Students will be introduced to the world of VEX IQ Robotics.  During the week-long session, students will learn how to build and block code robotics using the VEXcode.  VEXcode is a coding environment with an intuitive layout that meets students at their coding level.  Students will work together using the engineering design process to construct and program a robot that will complete multiple challenges at the end of the week. Students who attend this camp will need to arrange for their own transportation.   Please click the link at the top of this page to register. 

    The VEX IQ Robotics Camp will run two sessions: July 19 - July 22 and July 26  - July 29, 2021. Classes meet in-person Monday-Thursday at South River High School from 9:00 - 12:00pm. 


    Kids in College - Anne Arundel Community CollegeKids in College CAMP (Rising 6th-8th)

    AACPS is partnering with Anne Arundel Community college to provide a plethora of summer camp options. Camps range from Structural Engineering Basics, Jewelry Making, Fashionistas, Math ReadyCreative Writing, Hogwarts, Photo Challenges, Percy Jackson, to Creative Henna Design Camps.  Descriptions, Dates, and Times are all outlined in the registration link at the top of the page.  Students who attend this camp will need to arrange for their own transportation.   Please click the link at the top of this page to review descriptions of camps and register. 

    The Kids in College Camps will run all summer at a variety of schools in July and August.  Classes meet in-person Monday-Thursday either half-day mornings or half-day afternoons.  Exact locations, dates, and times can be found in the registration form.  


    BIOMIMICRY - design inspiration from natureSticking, Jumping, and Flying, Oh My! Science CAMP (Rising 6th-8th)

    This summer, let's explore the ins and outs of our earth.  From an Earth Day adventure to an oil spill clean-up to exploring gravity with water balloons – this camp will be a blast.  Let’s make science fun with hands-on activities, group work, and STEM-thinking. We will tidy up and restore a section of our earth, plant a tree, clean up an oil spill, and end our earth adventure with an exploration of gravity using water and balloons.   Students who attend this camp will need to arrange for their own transportation.  Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed.

    The Science-related Camp will run July 26 - 29, 2021 at Arundel High School.   Classes meet in-person Monday-Thursday from 8:30 - 12:30.  


    Let's Get Popping with the Earth Science CAMP (Rising 6th)

    This summer let's explore the ends and outs of earth.  From an Earth Day adventure to an oil spill clean to water balloons and gravity. Let’s make science fun with hands-on activities, group work, and stem work. We will clean up the earth and plant a tree, clean up an oil spill and end our earth adventure with learning how gravity affects the distance of a water balloon.  Students who attend this camp will need to arrange for their own transportation.   Please click the link at the top of this page to review descriptions of camps and register. 

    The Science-related Camp will run August 2 - 6, 2021 at Old Mill High School.   Classes meet in-person Monday-Thursday from 10:00 - 2:00.  

  • Center of Applied Technology North Camp (Rising 7th - 9th)

    The Center of Applied Technology North's Summer Career Camp is for AACPS students entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grades in Fall 2021. The camp is for students who are interested in learning industry, career, and technological skills.  Imagine a day camp at the Center of Applied Technology North where you can learn Adobe Photoshop; construct a toolbox; assemble an electrical switch; manage computer hardware; design & produce culinary items; establish farm-to-table techniques; architect technical documentation &/or create baked goods.  Our camp is a great way for middle school students to explore their future career interests!  This three-day camp will be held June 22nd - June 24th.  Lunch will not be provided. Students will need to bring their own lunch.  Camp spaces are limited and will be filled through a selection process. Limited bus transportation may be available but is not guaranteed. Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed. 

    The CATN Middle Camp will run June 22 - June 24, 2021. Campers will meet in-person Tuesday - Thursday from 8:00 am - 1:30 pm. 

Cooking, Baking, Design and Sewing Camps

    Students will learn how to use the sewing machine and a flat pattern to create clothing of your choice.  Learn the ins and outs of the fashion industry and design your own collection and branding concept.  Students who attend this camp will need to arrange for their own transportation.     Fashion Designer's Boot Camp will run for two sessions: July 19 - July 22 and July 26 - 29, 2021. Classes meet in person at Northeast High School Monday-Thursday from 8:30 - 3:30.  


    Design Challenge

    Design Challenge Camp (Rising 6th-8th)

    Students will explore different materials to determine how they can use materials we have available to us to make the remainder of your pandemic experience the best it can be? Students who attend this camp will need to arrange for their own transportation. Please click the link at the top of this page to register.

     

    Design Challenge Camp will run for four sessions: July 12 - July 15, July 19 - July 22, July 26 - July 29, and August 2 - August 5, 2021. Classes meet in person at Old Mill High School Monday-Thursday from 8:30 - 3:30.

    Students will explore and prepare some popular foods from West Indian, Southern/Down Home, Italian, Vegan and Vegetarian Cuisine. Students who attend this camp will need to arrange for their own transportation. Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed.

    Flavor Feast Camp will run for two sessions: July 12 - July 15 and July 19 - July 22, 2021. Classes meet in person at Old Mill Middle South Monday-Thursday from 8:30 - 3:30. 


    Cupcake Wars Camp (Rising 6th-8th)

    Students will create cupcakes in competitive groups based on a theme for each day. Students will use small groups to learn food safety, kitchen safety, baking and decorating techniques. Students who attend this camp will need to arrange for their own transportation. Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed.

    Cupcake Wars Camp will run for two sessions: July 12 - July 15 and July 19 - July 22, 2021. Classes meet in person at Northeast High School Monday-Thursday from 8:30 - 3:30.

Outdoor Education Camps

  • Arlington Echo SUMMER Camps (6th - 8th)outdoor education - mountains, sun

    Camp Arlington Echo is a free outdoor environmental day camp for AACPS students entering grades 6 - 8 who have an interest in the environment, making new friends, adventure, and personal growth!  Following current COVID-19 guidelines, campers will experience 4 fun filled days at AACPS's Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center in Millersville, Maryland immersed in the natural wonders of Chesapeake Bay ecosystems!  Traditional camp activities provide opportunities to explore, investigate, and experience a variety of nature-based activities including ecology, hiking, canoeing, swimming, archery, arts and crafts, songs, games, and fun!  Breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Camp spaces are limited and will be filled through a selection process.  Limited bus transportation may be available but is not guaranteed. Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed.

    The SUMMER CAMPS will run June 28 - July 1 and July 26 - July 29, 2021. Campers will meet in-person Monday-Thursday from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. 


    Fishing Camp (Rising 6th-8th)

    Do you want to learn how to fish? The Annapolis Police Department is sponsoring half-day morning fishing opportunities at Annapolis Water Works Park (8:30am – 12:00pm). Fishing Poles, bait, and transportation will be provided from Bates and Annapolis Middle Schools.  Each student participant will also receive a t-shirt. Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed.

    These three Fishing Camps will run in-person on the following mornings August 4, 12, and 16, 2021.  

Art & Dance Camps

  • MD Hall Art Camps (Ages 6 - 15)

    MD Hall is offering a plethora of art camps for various age groups.  From Arts & Crafts to Dance to Painting Workshops.  These full or half-day camps are open to all students who attend AACPS schools in the Annapolis Cluster.  Please click the link at the top of this page to register.

    The MD Hall Art Camps will run as one-week sessions all throughout the summer from June 21 -August 9, 2021.  


    ArtTrek CAMP @ Arlington Echo (6th) 

    Designed to challenge and encourage students with aspiring interests and emerging skills in art.  Taught by County Visual Arts teachers, the Art Trek experiences offers drawing, painting, sculpture, as well as other activities.  Students will have the opportunity to become acquainted with new friends with similar artistic interests. Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed.

    The ArtTrek CAMP will run July 12 - July 15, 2021. Classes meet in-person at Arlington Echo Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am- 3:30 pm.


    Dance Intensive CAMP @ Old Mill Complex (6th-8th)

    Summer Dance Intensive is a specialized, four-day program that focuses on advancing a dance's artistic skills with instruction in ballet, modern and jazz technique as well as performance choreography.  Our mission is to support well-rounded dancers and individuals.  Please visit the dance website for more information.     The Dance Intensive CAMP will run in-person July 12 -July 22, 2021 and classes meet Monday - Wednesday from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm and on Thursday from 8:00 - 8:30 pm due to the final performance. 


    Virtual Master Dance Classes (6th-8th)

    Virtual Master Dance Classes focus on advancing a dance's artistic skills with instruction in Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Tap, Yoga, Conditioning, and Improvision.  Please visit the dance website for more information. Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed.

    Chesapeake Arts Center Camps (Ages 9 - 13)

    The Chesapeake Arts Center has partnered with AACPS to offer a variety of in-person Art Camps for our students this summer free of charge.  The names of the art camps are (1) Anime Camp, (2) Superhero Camp (3) Dance Camp (4) Art and Nature Camp (5) Ceramics Camp, (6) Theater Camp and (7) Maker Camp. Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed.

    The Chesapeake Arts Center Camps will run in-person either mornings or afternoons on June 21, 2021 - August 27, 2021.  Invitation is open to schools from the North County Cluster.

    Exploring Community Through the Arts at MD Hall Camp (Rising 6-8)

    Students will use visual arts, music, and movement to explore their community around them while learning about creative ways to use their artistic voice. Students who are interested in participating in this camp will need to arrange their own transportation.  Please click the link at the top of this page to register.

    The Exploring Community Camp will run in person for three sessions.  Sessions are August 2 - August 5, August 9 - August 12, and August 16 - August 19, 2021.  Classes will meet in person from 9:15 am - 12:15 pm.


    Second Space: Visual Arts GT Enrichment Camp (Rising 6-8)

    Second Space is your chance to push yourself further as a visual artist.  you will engage in daily art prompts that allow you to explore the visual arts with like-minded students and instructors.  The summer sessions are focused on drawing on location with an eye on nature, architecture, and the figure.  Journaling will also be emphasized daily as we develop and experiment with a wide array of skills and techniques. Students who are interested in participating in this camp will need to arrange their own transportation.  Additionally, students will need to pack a lunch and water each day as the camp will be outdoors and bring a pencil and sketchbook.   There is no registration link for this camp as it is invitation only.

    The Second Space Camp will run in person from July 12 - July 15, 2021.  Class will meet from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at various locations throughout Annapolis.  

World Language Camps

  • world w/talk iconsGlobal Languages Summer CAMP @ Old Mill Middle North (6th)

    Students select one of four languages to explore during this two-week, immersive experience.  Languages being offered include Chinese, French, Italian, and Spanish.  A highly qualified language instructor will engage in authentic language exploration to teach students the basics of communication.  Students will have an opportunity to try cultural foods and learn about the customs, cultural backgrounds, and practices of those who speak the language.  No prerequisite of prior second language knowledge necessary. Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed.

    The Global Languages Summer CAMP will run July 19-July 29, 2021. Classes meet in-person Monday-Thursday from 8:30:00 am - 3:30 pm.


    Virtual Level-Up Language Camp (6th-8th)

    The Level-Up Language Camp provides students guided practice with the communicative skills necessary to be prepared for the next level of language study.  There will be some familiar topics as well as the pre-teaching of vocabulary and structures that students will see during the upcoming year.  This is an opportunity for students to enhance their language skills in a low-pressure, fun, and engaging environment.  Students will make cultural connections between their own experiences and the lives of their peers who live in other countries around the world! Unfortunately, at this time, registration is closed.

    The Level-Up Language Camp will run virtually June 26 - August 20, 2021.  Classes meet twice a week for 1 hour.

Reminders

  • Secondary Summer School: Summer School is free for AACPS students. Students outside of AACPS may register; however, there will be a fee associated per course.

    Summer Camps: AACPS Summer 2021 Camps are free for AACPS students. Federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief [ESSER] funds are being used to support summer camps and programming. These funds cannot be used to support non-AACPS students, hence these camps are only open to AACPS students. 

At Home Learning Resources

External Camps

    This virtual camp is designed for students to learn about safe online behavior, ethics, and cybersecurity from experienced instructors at the Anne Arundel Community College.     The GenCyber Camp will run June 25 - July 2, 2021. Classes meet virtually Monday-Friday from 8:50 - 3:30pm. 


    AI Pioneers (7th-8th)

    This virtual camp is developed and taught by Stanford and MIT alumni and graduate students. In this 10-week virtual program, students dive into training Artificial Intelligence (AI) to understand language, fight COVID-19, drive independently, and more!  As they learn to program AI in Python and RunDexter, they apply algorithms to real-world datasets, discuss AI ethics and careers, and build interactive web apps to deploy their machine learning models.  Click HERE for more information about this experience.     Virtual Language Villages - Youth Programs (Ages 8 - 18)

    Concordia Language Villages is excited to offer participants new opportunities to begin or continue their adventure in language and cultural learning! Villagers ages 8-18 (age ranges vary by language) can join one or more Virtual Village sessions — beginning to advanced language learners welcome! One-week sessions are offered in over 14 languages.  Please note: Virtual language camps are available beginning the week of 6/21/21 through the week starting 8/16/21.  Click HERE for more information about this experience.
